The Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council
Established in 1997 by the Minnesota Legislature, MAELC is comprised of sixteen educators, legislators, government officials, and agribusiness and community organization representatives. The Council represents all of the major institutions and groups in Minnesota with an interest in agricultural education and serves as a focal point for initiatives to improve agricultural education in the state. Funding for MAELC operations and programming is through the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
Our Mission
MAELC provides leadership to promote and expand agricultural education in Minnesota.
Our Primary Purposes
- Increase student access, awareness and participation in agriculture, food and natural resources (AFNR) education
- Improve programming content, meeting facilities and equipment needs, and providing the best methods of instruction to meet the needs of the AFNR industry
- Recruit, retain and support highly qualified instructors in the agriculture teaching profession
- Facilitate statewide collaboration among key agricultural education stakeholders
- Represent agricultural education statewide and act as a resource for answering questions and inquiries
