Maternal depression

In 2012, nine percent of Minnesota mothers reported symptoms of postpartum depression. The overall trend for maternal depression in Minnesota is declining.

American Indian and Black mothers were more than twice as likely to report depression, compared to all Minnesota mothers according to most recent estimates. Rates for mothers in poverty was significantly higher than the average as well.
