Resetting Passwords


In this topic you learn how to reset your password to a different password once your profile has been created. After completing this topic, you should be able to:

- Navigate to set your new password

- Explain the information that is needed to change your password

- Confirm that you are able to log in with the new password created


Steps:

There are two circumstances in which you might need to change your password. If you believe your password has been compromised you may wish to change it for security reasons. If you forget your password, you may request a temporary one from the State. The link to request a new password is located just below the User ID and Password fields and the Vendor Registration Link link on the Supplier Portal homepage. The link is called I forgot my password. You will be asked to supply your current login ID and the answer to the password hint question that you established when you first registered. A temporary password will be sent to the email address you supplied at registration. In either case the steps to change to a new password are the same.

  1. The first step is to log in to the Supplier Portal using your current login and either your current password or a temporary one you were sent on request.

  2. Click in the User ID field.

  3. Enter your User ID into the User ID field.

  4. Click in the Password field.

  5. Enter your current or the temporary password into the Password field.

  6. Click the Sign In button.

  7. Navigation to change your password is located in the My Profile page. The link to the My Profile page is found in the Menu section of the Supplier Portal homepage. Note: The My Profile link can also be accessed by clicking the Main Menu link at the top of the Supplier Portal homepage. Click the My Profile link to navigate to the General Profile Information page where you can change your password.

  8. The General Profile Information page allows you to manage certain elements of your profile with the State. For this example, you will change the password and change your hint question and answer. These links are at the top of the page in the Password section. Below the Password sections is a section called Options to improve screen reader functionality. There are two check boxes: Screen Reader Accessibility Mode and Automatically Collapse Menu. By default these boxes are unchecked. Below the Options to improve screen reader accessibility section is a section called Email, which lists the primary email account that you established for this login ID when you registered. The Email Address field is editable. Delete the existing email address and type in a new one if necessary.

  9. Click the Change password link.

  10. Clicking the Change password link opens the Change password page. Here you must first enter the current password. Note: You must know the existing password to be able to create a new password. Click in the Current Password field.

  11. Enter the existing password (current or temporary) into the Current Password field.

  12. The next field is the New Password field. Now you need to enter the new password you wish to change to. Click in the New Password field.

  13. Enter the new password into the New Password field.

  14. Next you need to retype the new password in the Confirm Password field. The system will check to make sure both fields (New Password and Confirm Password) are the same. Click in the Confirm Password field.

  15. Enter the new password into the Confirm Password field.

  16. Click the OK button.

  17. Clicking the OK button takes you back to the General Profile Information page. You can save changes now by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the page, or you can make additional changes first. Just remember to save any changes before exiting the page.

    One of the additional changes you can make is to your password hint question and answer. Click the Change or set up forgotten password hint link.

  18. Clicking the link takes you to the Change or set up forgotten password hint page. There are two fields on this page. The Question field is a dropdown list indicating the valid questions to choose from when setting up your hint. The other field is the Response field. It is a text box where you can enter the correct response to your chosen question. If you never set up a hint question and answer, the Response field will be blank. Otherwise, it will show the answer you previously indicated for the hint question. You can change the question and answer, or just the answer.

  19. Click the OK button when you have completed your changes. This returns you to the General Profile Information page.

  20. Now that you are finished making changes to your profile, you have to save the changes before exiting the page. Click the Save button.

  21. After changing your password, you may wish to test the new password by signing out and signing back in. This is optional; you will stay logged in to the Supplier Portal under your initial log in. The next time you log in you will need to use your new password.

  22. If you choose to test your new password, you'll need to sign out first. Click the Sign out link located at the top right of the page. This link is at the right next to Print and Home. All of these links are available on all pages within the site.
  23. After signing out, you can repeat the login process using your User ID and the new password you created. If you are unable to log in, you will need to click the I forgot my password link to request a new temporary replacement password from the State.
