All applicants must apply for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP) prior to applying for this Home Repair Loan Program.

The Rehabilitation Loan/Emergency and Accessibility Loan Programs assist low income homeowners in financing basic home improvements that directly affect the safety, habitability, energy efficiency or accessibility of their homes.
Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) loans may be used for basic and necessary improvements that make the home more livable and energy efficient.
The Emergency and Accessibility Loan Program is available for home improvements addressing emergency conditions of the home or accessibility needs for a disabled household resident, subject to prior approval by Minnesota Housing.
Funds from the Loan Program may be used to make your home more livable, accessible and energy efficient
Persons may use a loan for:
- Ramp or mechanical lift
- Widened doorways
- Bathroom fixtures and layout
- Kitchen and laundry modifications
- Wheel-in shower stalls
- Mold remediation
- Windows, siding and roofing
- Water systems, heating, plumbing, electrical
- Lead paint hazards
