St. Paul—In a proclamation, Governor Mark Dayton has declared Monday, January 17, 2011 to be Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Minnesota. According to the proclamation, the day is to be an “occasion for all to reflect on his life, teachings, leadership, character, dream and vision; and to dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of justice, equality, and happiness for all Minnesotans.”
Governor Dayton will observe the occasion by marching in the 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration March hosted by Saint Paul Central High School, the Council on Black Minnesotans and Concordia University.
