Governor Dayton orders flags flown at half-staff in honor of Sergeant Ian Williams McConnell

In honor and remembrance of Sergeant Ian Williams McConnell, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Monday, July 18th.  

Sergeant Ian Williams McConnell passed away as an active-duty Marine on July 6, 2011.  As a dedicated member of the United States Marine Corps, Sergeant McConnell served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan performing Explosive Ordinance Disposal, and was recently accepted into the Marine Corps Special Operations Command.
