September 29, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Following the request of Governor Mark Dayton, Minnesota today received more than $17 million in federal grants to train workers for jobs in high-demand fields. The grants, awarded to 14 campuses across the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system, will provide education and workforce training for good-paying jobs in construction and advanced manufacturing.

PAUL, MN – Last night at the Pheasants Forever Chapter 844 banquet in St. Paul, Governor Mark Dayton announced plans to convene the state’s first-ever Minnesota Pheasant Summit. The Summit, to be held later this year, will include hunters, farmers, policymakers, conservationists, other stakeholders, and key members of the Governor’s Cabinet. It will focus on strategies to increase the state’s pheasant population, improve pheasant habitat, and ensure future generations of Minnesota hunters have the opportunity to enjoy one of the state’s most popular and iconic game birds.
September 25, 2014 - Tea, SD – The Board of Directors of the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System today awarded a $16.5 million pipeline contract to Carstensen Contracting of Pipestone, MN, which was more than two million less than the engineer’s estimate. This is the first pipeline contract Lewis & Clark has awarded since June 2012. The contract includes 18 miles of primarily 24” pipe that runs from the Minnesota/Iowa border to Luverne. When completed Lewis & Clark will be able to deliver water to Luverne. The substantial completion deadline is November 2015.
September 24, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton today announced that the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) will receive two federal grants totaling $36 million for the expansion, modernization, and improvement of four Minnesota veterans’ homes. These new grants will help expand the capacity of the State Veterans Homes, and improve the quality of life enjoyed by Minnesota’s veterans.

September 24, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN –The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that a judgeship vacancy is occurring in Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District Court. This vacancy was created upon the retirement of the Honorable Marilyn B. Rosenbaum, and will be chambered at Minneapolis in Hennepin County.
September 22, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton today took a series of executive actions to protect children in Minnesota from the threat of abuse and neglect. These efforts include both immediate changes to the child protection system, and the establishment of a new Governor’s Task Force on the Protection of Children. The Task Force, appointed by the Governor, will make specific recommendations for comprehensive improvements to the child protection system in the upcoming 2015 Legislative Session.
