January 31, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – This afternoon, Governor Mark Dayton and members of the state’s Executive Council voted unanimously to extend Emergency Executive Order 14-02 for another 30 days. The order, initially issued by Governor Dayton on January 27, establishes a Peacetime State of Emergency in Minnesota to help relieve the severe shortage of propane and other home heating fuel supplies statewide. A peacetime emergency order cannot last longer than five days, but it may be extended by the Executive Council for up to 30 days (Minn. Stat., sec. 12.31, subdivision 2a).
January 31, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – In observance of the 71st Anniversary of the tragic sinking of the United States Army transport Dorchester off the coast of Greenland, Governor Mark Dayton will order all U.S. Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Monday, February 3, 2014.
January 30, 2014 - This afternoon, Governor Mark Dayton and several other Midwest Governors spoke with Texas Governor Rick Perry via telephone about the propane emergency in Minnesota. Last Thursday, January 23rd, Governor Perry waived trucking restrictions in the State of Texas, which increased the flow of propane to Minnesota and other states. That waiver was set to expire on Wednesday, February 5th. Governor Dayton thanked Governor Perry today for his previous assistance, and asked him to extend that waiver when it expires next week.
January 29, 2014 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Mr. Daniel A. Benson and Mr. Michael D. Fritz as District Court Judges in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District. Mr. Benson will be replacing the Honorable Peter M. Irvine and Mr. Fritz will be replacing the Honorable Lisa N. Borgen. Mr. Benson will be chambered at Long Prairie in Todd County while Mr. Fritz will be chambered at Moorhead in Clay County.
January 28, 2014 - On Friday, Governor Dayton will convene an emergency meeting of the Executive Council to consider extending Emergency Executive Order 14-02. The Governor’s order was issued to alleviate the severe shortage of propane and other home heating fuel supplies statewide.
January 28, 2014 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced that he will undergo hip surgery next week on Thursday, February 6th at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The surgery is expected to take approximately one hour.
