  • Week-Long Event Highlights Importance of State’s Manufacturing Sector

    October 21, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton issued a proclamation declaring the week of October 20, 2013, to be “Minnesota Manufacturers Week” – highlighting the importance of an industry that employs one out of every nine workers in Minnesota. The annual event is designed to educate the public about the role manufacturing plays in the state’s economy, and to highlight opportunities for employment in the industry.

    October 19, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – From a tuition freeze at all state colleges and universities, to significant increases in direct financial aid, students across Minnesota are benefitting from historic new investments in higher education. During the last legislative session, Governor Mark Dayton and the DFL Legislature reversed years of of deep cuts, investing $250 million in initiatives to make postsecondary education more accessible and affordable.
  • Commission on Judicial Selection Announces Vacancies in the Seventh Judicial District
    October 17, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN –The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that two judgeship vacancies are occurring in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District Court. These vacancies were created upon the retirement of the Honorable Peter M. Irvine and the resignation of the Honorable Lisa N. Borgen. Judge Irvine’s seat will be chambered at Long Prairie in Todd County and Judge Borgen’s seat will be chambered at Moorhead in Clay County.

    October 14, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – This morning at the Governor’s Residence in St. Paul, Governor Mark Dayton hosted a celebration breakfast reception for the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx recently won the WNBA Championship for the second time in three years. Team members had the opportunity to visit with Governor Dayton and other elected officials, and were congratulated for their outstanding championship season.   • Governor Dayton Appoints Colleen Goggins King to Fill First Judicial District Vacancy
    October 11, 2013 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Colleen Goggins King as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s First Judicial District. Ms. King will be replacing the Honorable Michael V. Sovis, who retired earlier this year. The judgeship will be chambered at Hastings in Dakota County.
  • Governor Dayton Appoints Kathy M. Wallace to Fill Third Judicial District Vacancy
    October 11, 2013 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Kathy M. Wallace as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Third Judicial District. Ms. Wallace will be replacing the Honorable Joseph F. Wieners, who retired earlier this year. The judgeship will be chambered at Rochester in Olmsted County.
