    December 05, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – After years of irresponsible borrowing, all of the $2.8 billion that was borrowed from Minnesota schools has been repaid due to the budget surpluses generated by Minnesota’s growing economy. A new economic forecast released today by the Minnesota Department of Management and Budget (MMB) shows that the additional $1.086 billion surplus projected for the current biennium will permit the immediate repayment of the final $246 million, still owed our schools. Changes made last session by the Legislature and Governor Dayton accelerated that repayment by mandating in law that any additional surplus would go immediately to the schools.
  • Technology Reform Saves Minnesotans $17.4 Million
    December 04, 2013 - A bipartisan effort to overhaul the state's information technology (IT) systems is paying off, according to new information released today by Governor Mark Dayton and MN.IT Services, the state’s IT agency. Since 2011, IT consolidation efforts within the Dayton Administration have saved Minnesotans an estimated $17.4 million by reducing waste, consolidating contracts, reforming administrative processes, and implementing new accountability measures. Governor Dayton praised the state’s information technology workforce for those savings, and other IT innovations and reforms at a celebration recognizing the work of MN.IT employees across the administration.

  • Governor Dayton Signs Executive Order 13-13
    November 26, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton issued Executive Order 13-13, assigning emergency responsibilities to state agencies. The Executive Order directs each state agency to designate a member of its staff as its emergency preparedness response contact and coordinator. It also designates persons from each state agency to serve on a Homeland Security Advisory Committee that will determine strategies and priorities for homeland security activities across disciplines and ensure coordination of all available federal preparedness funding sources.

    November 25, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today Governor Mark Dayton announced his notice of intent to appoint Marie McCarthy to the Metropolitan Council.  Ms. McCarthy will replace John Doan as the District 10 representative.  Ms. McCarthy’s term will be effective on November 30, 2013 and extend through January 5, 2015.

This morning, Governor Mark Dayton was joined by Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson, Minnesota Turkey Growers Association President John Zimmerman, and Colleen Moriarty of Hunger Solutions Minnesota to bring in the week’s festivities. A Minnesota-grown turkey was also on-hand for the occasion.

    November 22, 2013 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Jennifer L. Frisch as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District. Ms. Frisch will be replacing the Honorable Kathleen R. Gearin, who retired earlier this year. The judgeship will be chambered at St. Paul in Ramsey County.
  • Governor Dayton Appoints Suzanne Bollman and Amy R. Brosnahan to Fill Tenth Judicial District Vacancies
    November 21, 2013 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Suzanne Bollman and Ms. Amy R. Brosnahan as District Court Judges in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. Ms. Bollman will be replacing the Honorable Elizabeth H. Martin and Ms. Brosnahan will be replacing the Honorable P. Hunter Anderson, who both retired earlier this year. Ms. Bollman will be chambered at Center City in Chisago County while Ms. Brosnahan will be chambered at Cambridge in Isanti County.
