November 26, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton issued Executive Order 13-13, assigning emergency responsibilities to state agencies. The Executive Order directs each state agency to designate a member of its staff as its emergency preparedness response contact and coordinator. It also designates persons from each state agency to serve on a Homeland Security Advisory Committee that will determine strategies and priorities for homeland security activities across disciplines and ensure coordination of all available federal preparedness funding sources.
November 25, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today Governor Mark Dayton announced his notice of intent to appoint Marie McCarthy to the Metropolitan Council. Ms. McCarthy will replace John Doan as the District 10 representative. Ms. McCarthy’s term will be effective on November 30, 2013 and extend through January 5, 2015.
November 25, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Thanksgiving Week got underway today at the Minnesota State Capitol. This morning, Governor Mark Dayton was joined by Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson, Minnesota Turkey Growers Association President John Zimmerman, and Colleen Moriarty of Hunger Solutions Minnesota to bring in the week’s festivities. A Minnesota-grown turkey was also on-hand for the occasion.
November 22, 2013 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Jennifer L. Frisch as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District. Ms. Frisch will be replacing the Honorable Kathleen R. Gearin, who retired earlier this year. The judgeship will be chambered at St. Paul in Ramsey County.
November 21, 2013 - Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Suzanne Bollman and Ms. Amy R. Brosnahan as District Court Judges in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. Ms. Bollman will be replacing the Honorable Elizabeth H. Martin and Ms. Brosnahan will be replacing the Honorable P. Hunter Anderson, who both retired earlier this year. Ms. Bollman will be chambered at Center City in Chisago County while Ms. Brosnahan will be chambered at Cambridge in Isanti County.
November 15, 2013 - The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending three candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancy in Minnesota’s First Judicial District.
November 14, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton and the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today that ten highway construction projects will receive funding through the state’s new $300 million Corridors of Commerce program. The projects will strengthen Minnesota’s transportation system by adding capacity and improving the movement of freight across the state.

Governor Dayton was on hand to kick off the two-day conference that serves as an information-sharing forum on eliminating traffic fatalities and life-changing injuries on Minnesota Roads.

November 07, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – For the first time since the state began reporting achievement gap data more than a decade ago, national test results released today show that Minnesota is making significant progress in narrowing the achievement gap between white students and students of color. According to the 2013 National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) – otherwise known as the “Nation’s Report Card” – math scores among Minnesota fourth grade students were the best in the country this year, and reading scores showed significant achievement gap closures. Additionally, fourth and eighth grade students this year recorded the best scores in math and reading since NAEP scores started being collected in Minnesota.
November 06, 2013 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton issued Emergency Executive Order 13-12, extending a state of emergency in Minnesota due to the late maturing of the corn crop across the upper Midwest. Under the Executive Order, motor carriers and drivers transporting propane and anhydrous ammonia to affected areas of the state and providing direct assistance for emergency relief efforts, are exempted from regulations pertaining to hours of service. PAUL, MN – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending eight candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the five current vacancies in Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District. These vacancies were created upon the retirements of the Honorable John L. Holahan, Jr., the Honorable William R. Howard, the Honorable Marilyn J. Kaman, the Honorable Richard S. Scherer and the Honorable Lloyd B. Zimmerman. These district court judgeships will be chambered at Minneapolis in Hennepin County in the Fourth Judicial District.
November 04, 2013 - Continuing the effort to improve the health of Minnesotans, and reduce health care costs through low-cost, preventive measures, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has awarded more than $21.2 million in Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) grants to counties and cities across Minnesota. The grants will be used by communities – in partnership with local businesses, schools, and local governments – to implement projects and programs that will promote exercise and physical activity, improve nutrition, and decrease tobacco and alcohol use.
