Halloween at the Governor’s Residence
October 30, 2012 - Governor Dayton invites all ghouls, goblins, and vampires to celebrate Halloween at the Governor’s Residence—if you dare. The gates of the Governor’s Residence will be open from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm and Governor Dayton will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters from approximately 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

October 29, 2012 - SAINT PAUL, MN – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that a judgeship vacancy is occurring in Minnesota’s Third Judicial District Court. The Honorable Casey J. Christian is retiring, leaving a vacancy to be chambered at Owatonna in Steele County in the Third Judicial District.

Governor Dayton appoints Stephanie Beckman and Thomas Van Hon to Eighth Judicial District Court
October 26, 2012 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Stephanie L. Beckman and Thomas W. Van Hon as District Court Judges in Minnesota's Eighth Judicial District. Ms. Beckman will replace the Honorable Steven E. Drange who retired earlier this year. Mr. Van Hon will replace the Honorable Paul A. Nelson who also retired earlier this year.

Governor Mark Dayton appoints Katie Clark Commissioner of the Department of Employment and Economic Development
October 18, 2012 - SAINT PAUL, MN – Today Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Katie Clark as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). Governor Dayton appointed Clark as Executive Director of the Minnesota Trade Office in January of 2011. Clark succeeds Commissioner Mark Phillips, who is resigning effective Friday to pursue opportunities in the private sector.

Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends First Judicial District Candidates to Governor Dayton
October 17, 2012 - Saint Paul, MN – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending three candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancy occurring in Minnesota’s First Judicial District. This vacancy was created upon the retirement of the Honorable Philip T. Kanning earlier this year. This district court judgeship will be chambered at Chaska in Carver County in the First Judicial District.

Minnesota Department of Education slashes paperwork for special education teachers
October 11, 2012 - ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Dayton congratulated Minnesota Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius and the state Department of Education (MDE) for reducing excessive paperwork on Minnesota’s special education teachers. The reduction will enable educators to spend much less time filling out forms and much more time in the classroom teaching children with special needs.
