Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board

In association with the Dakota County Board of Commissioners, the Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board (WIB) oversees employment and training programs in Dakota and Scott Counties.

Overview

In association with the Dakota County Board of Commissioners, the Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board (WIB) oversees employment and training programs in Dakota and Scott Counties.

With a strong commitment to serving both employers and job seekers, the WIB is a state leader in developing innovative programs through our WorkForce Centers in West Saint Paul, Burnsville and Shakopee.

Jobs are the backbone of robust communities. The WIB brings together both public and private resources for job seekers and employers. We are vigorous advocates of workforce development and employer concerns. Our local initiatives have both energized our local workforce and supported employers needs.

The Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board is made up of representatives of business, organized labor, social services agencies, public employment services, rehabilitation services agencies, economic development agencies, community-based organizations and educational institutions.

Meeting Schedule

The WIB meets each month from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. in Conference Room 520 at the Dakota County Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road West, West Saint Paul, MN.

Meetings are open to the public and feature presentations on developments affecting the economic health of the community. Meeting location changes occasionally to accommodate special events. Be sure to check the schedule.

Committees

Executive Committee
Our mission is to oversee and coordinate the goals and activities of the Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board.

  • Our Executive Committee acts on behalf of and at the direction of the WIB. This committee sets our budget.

Evaluation Committee
Our mission is to develop, refine and evaluate performance measures of the WorkForce Center partners, including customer satisfaction effectiveness, and efficiency of the programs under the Workforce Investment Board’s authority.

Our Evaluation Committee is responsible for the following functions:

  • Program oversight
  • Fiscal review
  • Program modifications
  • Communications with contractors
  • Program performance
  • Contract process review and development

One-Stop Operations Committee
Our One-Stop Operations Committee is responsible for the following functions:

  • Program oversight
  • One-stops
  • Partners/MOU

Government Relations Committee
Our mission is to educate policy makers on the role of Workforce Investment Board and promote appropriate legislation.

Our Government Relations Committee is responsible for the following functions:

  • Legislation review and comment
  • Outreach to legislators
  • Bylaws and operating agreements
  • Applications for Council

Communications Committee
Our mission is to develop and implement strategies to effectively and consistently communicate Workforce Investment Board’s message to identified audiences.

Our Communications Committee is responsible for the following functions:

  • Outreach and marketing
  • Public Relations

Youth Council
Our mission is to provide leadership and support to community partners in fostering the educational and employment success of youth.

Our Youth Council is responsible for the following functions:

  • Oversight of Youth Programs
  • Youth issues advocacy

Business Services Committee
Our mission is to provide effective communication and resources to employers and Dakota and Scott Counties supporting business needs.

  • Our Business Services Committee is responsible for outreach to the business community.
