What We Do

The Real Estate Appraiser Advisory Board makes recommendations to the Commissioner of Commerce on the experience, examination, and education requirements for real estate appraisers, and on the periodic review of the standards for the development and communication of real estate appraisals. The Board does not have enforcement, licensing, or rulemaking authority, but it advises the department on these areas from an informed perspective. It has 15 members appointed by the Commissioner: three public members, four consumers of appraisal services, and eight real estate appraisers.
