ST.PAUL, MN – Saving money and saving energy go hand-in-hand. That’s why this year at the State Fair the Minnesota Department of Commerce is demonstrating ways Minnesota homeowners can save money and energy with an advanced home energy audit.
The Energy Solutions Home, developed by the Minnesota Department of Commerce, is a great place for consumers to learn about the benefits of an advanced home energy audit – the most fundamental first step to home energy savings. Energy experts will be on hand at the exhibit on Thursday, August 23 to: 1) inform fairgoers where they can get an independent home energy audit; and 2) demonstrate some of the high-tech equipment used to diagnose energy deficiencies in your home.
“An advanced energy audit is an important first step in determining how efficient your home is now and which improvements might be most cost-effective for you and your family,” said Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman. “We encourage all Minnesota fairgoers to visit the Energy Solutions Home and learn more about how simple, cost-effective energy improvements can produce long-term savings for your home.”
On Thursday, a certified energy auditor will be hosting several presentations for fairgoers at the Sustainability Stage of the Energy Solutions Home. The presentation, “Home Energy Audits: Gateway to Energy and Money Savings,” will take place at 1:00pm and 4:30pm. The presentations are part of Go Green to Save Green $ Day at the Eco Experience, located on the north end of the fairgrounds in the Progress Center.
Home energy audit presentations will discuss the benefits of a home energy audit, the tools used, sample audit reports, and examples of low-cost and long-term improvements that can be implemented. The same information will be offered throughout the Fair at the Home Assessment display of the Energy Solutions Home. Air leak sealing, added insulation, weather stripping, and simple maintenance and repair of furnaces and boilers are some of the most basic energy-saving home improvements identified by energy audits.
