07, 2012 - Sometimes money goes missing due to a change of address or a death in the family. That’s when the Minnesota Department of Commerce steps in to help Minnesotans find and claim what is rightfully theirs. This year alone the Commerce Department reunited 7,200 Minnesotans with $19 million in missing bank accounts, life insurance policies, safe deposit boxes, unclaimed paychecks, and other real property and financial assets – a 13 percent improvement over 2011.

25, 2012 - The Minnesota Department of Commerce collected $1 million in penalties this week from a national mortgage settlement announced in February. Forty-nine states including Minnesota joined the $25 billion settlement which involves the nation’s five largest national mortgage lenders: Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citibank, and GMAC/Ally Financial.
15, 2012 - SAINT PAUL, MN – In a coordinated effort with federal law enforcement agencies that executed search warrants at three locations associated with C.C. Brown Law Office in Utah Tuesday, Commissioner Mike Rothman issued a statement of charges against Charles Craig Brown, Chad Gettel, and C.C. Brown Law, LLC for allegedly engaging in unlicensed mortgage modification activities in Minnesota.
15, 2012 - Minnesota Department of Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman and Janet Golden from the Tubman Senior Rights Alliance joined in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day activities through their training, “Preventing Elderly Investment Fraud.” The presentation was tailored to health care professionals, focusing on how to spot and report fraud and financial abuse within the elderly and vulnerable adult populations.
11, 2012 - The Governor’s Task Force on Broadband will hold a public meeting in Falcon Heights, Minnesota at the TIES Building on Tuesday, June 12 from 10:00am – 3:20pm. The Task Force will hold two panel discussions focused on policy incentives and right-of-way, permitting, and dig-once strategies and an update from Senator Klobuchar’s Office on S1939, The Broadband Conduit Deployment Act of 2011. Members of the public and press are invited to attend the meeting.

13, 2012 - Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman announced the continuation of Minnesota’s successful Auto Theft Prevention Grant Program today, awarding 21 local county attorneys, and community organizations with more than $3.8 million to be used exclusively for local programs that aid in prevention of auto theft.
