Swine Brucellosis
Minnesota was declared Validated Swine Brucellosis Free on May 1, 1975 and has maintained that status.
This status is maintained through a slaughter surveillance program which requires the following:
- at least 5 percent of the state's breeding swine population is subjected to an official brucellosis test each year, and
- 80% of Market Swine Test (MST) reactors are successfully traced to the farm of origin.
