Composting Livestock and Poultry Mortalities
Composting converts waste products such as animal carcasses, straw, sawdust, and poultry litter into an odorless, generally pathogen-free product that can be used as an organic fertilizer.

Requirements:
- Composting must be completed in accordance with Board of Animal Health rules 1721.0740.
- Composting is allowed for poultry, swine, sheep, goats and cattle. The Board may authorize other species to be composted or alternative methods to be used.
